About Scott
I figure most of you visiting this site are looking to cast a project, and if you’ve come this far, you’re probably looking to answer questions like:
- “Will this guy handle himself professionally on set?”
- “Will my people enjoy working with him?”
- “Can he deliver the character?”
- “What kind of person is he?”
So, let me tell you a little something about the professional me, to put you at ease and let you know what you’re getting. Then, a little something about the personal me, who always comes along for the ride.
Professionalism & Experience
“A strong ensemble guy – not a diva.”
“A team building type of actor.”
“Gets the job done, with no bullshit.”
“A great attitude.”
“Directable, no ego.”
“Well prepared and ready to go.”
Those are some quotes from people I’ve worked with. (You can see more, and who said what, on my Testimonials Page.)
I earned my union status the long and hard way: on stage and on set, watching and learning from seasoned professionals, gaining trust while working my way up from small roles to lead roles. I’ve learned from experience how much is at stake, and how important each person is to the entire process. For everyone’s sake, I arrive prepared and ready to go.
(I believe that I must continue to work hard, learn as I go, and earn my reputation and trust.)
Cool to Work With
“Easy to work with and fun to have around.”
“Incredibly likable. Collaborative, versatile.”
“A pleasure to work with.”
“A great sense of humor and community.”
“An utter joy to watch and work with.”
(More generous quotes from colleagues. Boy, did they lay it on thick.)
It’s really important to me that the people around me feel good about themselves and do well. To that end, I’m encouraging, entertaining, and cheerful—and though I’m fun loving, I’m also hardworking and focused, and have a strong sense of teamwork.
Dirty Characters. No Mess.
“On stage he is versatile, from a “street” feel to uptight geeky guy.”
“Able to step into a role and bring his own self to it.”
“He cleanly and honestly executes everything I ask.”
“Scott’s choices on stage and in rehearsal are always character and moment driven.”
The roles I tend to be cast in most frequently are edgy, dirty, rebellious, and urban characters. I like to think they are smudged with blotch of warmth, energy, or charm. Naughty-flirty-funny, perhaps. The role of “John” in The Whipping Man was my favorite role of this type.
I also had a lot of fun with the dirty cop character, “Quintana” in the film Street Kings 2: Motor City.
While I think I play “dirty” pretty well, folks who know me will bring me in for comedic roles.
A Strange Package — Edgy. Energetic. Entertaining.
“Scott walks into a room and it lights up.”
“Enormous generosity of spirit.”
“Never condescending or imperious, always at play in a serious way.”
“His best quality is his ability to have fun, onstage and off.”
All that professional stuff said, here’s a little bit about me personally.
Once you get to know me, you’ll find I’m a mixed bag.
I can be ostentatious, loud and entertaining in a crowd, but one-on-one you’ll find I’m deeply spiritual, caring, and introspective.
I have been knows to say shockingly rude and inappropriate things, but usually get away with it because I’ve said it with love and respect, often for comedy.
If you put me in a room full of strange children, an hour later it will be a room full of my best friends.
My mission in life is to make sure the people around me feel good about themselves. I do it with love, laughter, encouragement, positivity, and inclusion.
I hope you’ll take a minute to reach out to me, get to know me better, and tell me how I might help out on your project.
